JUDY NURKKALA, Director
Judy has been the director of NOTE-able Singers since 1994. She studied voice privately and has sung in the University of Minnesota Chorus, Finlandia University choir, Evangelica Cantanti and various ensembles. One memorable experience was singing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at the U of M along with the Minneapolis Symphony. Her main area of study was the piano. She began her lessons in kindergarten and played her first solo for her young classmates. Her piano career as a soloist, accompanist and private teacher, continues to the present day. Judy has dedicated many years to being a church pianist, organist and choir director. She also played the clarinet in band and ensembles and has studied the harp.

DAVID DAY, Accompanist
David is in his seventh year with NOTE-able Singers. He has played organ and sung in choirs and musical groups since he was eight. He began playing piano at the age of twelve, which is when he began accompanying choirs, ensembles and soloists. David has been a church musician since 1993. He has composed a number of hymns and postludes, as well as hymn arrangements. He also writes original music in a wide variety of genres and styles.

LORI ALSDURF, Alto
Lori is so excited to experience her first year with NOTE-able singers in her native Bloomington. She has spent the last twelve years in musical theatre performance and production management in the North Metro area – her favorites include High School Musical, Anything Goes, Children of Eden, It’s a Wonderful Life and Music Man. She was also instrumental in developing musical theatre in her church. Lori thinks it’s great to be performing with such a wonderfully talented and supportive group of women – oh, and you too, Dave!

KRYS BLUE, Mezzo
Krys has enjoyed singing since elementary school. This is her third year with NOTE-able Singers. Previously she has been a member of several choirs at Luther College where she studied with a vocal coach. She was a member of the Northwestern Singers in Austin, MN and the St. Peter Choral Society. Krys has also been in several musical productions including "Into the Woods", "South Pacific" and "Hello Dolly".

MARY NESSEL ERICKSEN, Soprano
Mary grew up in a musical family. She studied piano when she was in grade school, enjoyed singing and dancing in high school and studied dance at MacPhail. Prior to joining NOTE-able Singers, Mary sang with Sweet Adelines, a church choir and Mother Singers. Mary has enjoyed singing with NOTE-able Singers for the past seven years and she is also on the tap dancing team.

JANIS KROMMINGA, Alto
Janis is in her second year with NOTE-able Singers. Her childhood was filled with music, with her favorite memory being her whole family singing around the piano. She studied piano and guitar and and has sung in high school choir and church musicals. She has continued the family tradition of music and has five children who play guitar, bass, drums, piano and sing and dance. Jani is on the tap dancing team.

LIZ KUCHINKA, Mezzo
Music has been a part of Liz' life for as long as she can remember. As a child, she and her sister would play their parents' records and dance around the living room. She started playing the piano at age 8 and played the French horn in high school band and orchestra. Singing has been a passion of hers for a while, but mostly in the car singing along to the radio. She is grateful to finally have an outlet for that passion. Liz is also on the tap dancing team.

DANA LEVINSON, Alto
Dana is thrilled to be a part of NOTE-able Singers. She performed in plays and musicals throughout her childhood, then spent time focusing on a business career. After singing non-stop to her family around the house, Dana is happy to have another outlet for her passion for singing through NOTE-able Singers. This is Dana's second year with the choir.

CHRYSTAL MARTY, Soprano
This is Chrystal's second year with NOTE-able Singers. She comes to us from Florida where she has been performing in choirs and ensembles since grade school. She has a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Florida and studied music history in Mozart's hometown of Salzburg Austria. Chrystal has sung in the University of Florida Concert Choir, Women's Chorale and Chamber singers, and recently with the Orlando chorale.

KELLY HOTZLER, Soprano
Kelly is excited to be singing again with the NOTE-ables after taking a
break while moving to Minnesota from Illinois and running after two small
children now 12 and 8. Kelly has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music/Voice
from Butler University in Indiana. She has studied voice with American
Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria and toured six different
countries with Americas Youth in Concert when she was a Junior in high
school. She spent a summer with the College Light Opera Company in
Falmouth, MA while in college. Kelly has performed in musicals in and
around the Chicago area, some of her favorite roles are: Cleo in "The Most
Happy Fella", Audrey in "Little Shop of Horrors", Laurey in "Oklahoma",
Young Sally in "Follies", Maggie in "A Chorus Line" and Carrie in
"Carousel". Kelly was a dance extra in the movie "Straight Talk" with
Dolly Parton that was filmed in Chicago. She plays the flute and is on the
tap dancing team.

JEANNINE NASLUND, Mezzo
Jeannine is excited to Join NOTE-able singers in the 2011-2012 season. She lives in Bloomington with her husband and has three grown children. She is a flight attendant for 37 years with Northwest (now Delta) Airlines. Jeannine loves singing and is really enjoying this new experience with NOTE-able singers.

ERICA SCHORN, Alto

Erica is in her third year with NOTE-able Singers. She has been singing and performing for as long as she can remember. her first solo was at the age of three, singing Joy to the World for her church. She has been in choirs and taken professional voice lessons all throughout her life. She has also been a professional wedding singer for the past five years.

REBECCA MAGISTAD, Soprano

Rebecca was active with music and drama from childhood through high school. In
more recent years, she has been busy with work and family. Rebecca is happy to be
making music again with such a talented and welcoming group. She is also
grateful for her family’s support as she added yet one more activity to their
very hectic schedule!

MELISSA STURDEVANT, Mezzo
Melissa comes to NOTE-able Singers with a diverse song and dance background which began at the age of three. In high school she performed in Grease and Bye Bye Birdie and sang in jazz, concert and show choirs. She has been a dance teacher and currently performs solos for weddings and other events. Melissa is in her second year and very excited to be part of NOTE-able Singers. Melissa is also on the tap dancing team.

MARY THOMPSON, Mezzo
With grandparents, aunts and uncles who sang barbershop quartet music, Mary was surrounded by live music from an early age. She began playing ukulele (to imitate her grandfather) when she was five; by age ten she was playing guitar. She sang in school choruses from elementary school through high school, and performed in school musicals and variety shows. She was active for many years in church music groups, singing and playing guitar. This is her first year as a Note-able singer and she is also on the tap dancing team.

JUDY WEIGMAN, Soprano
Judy sang her first solo in church at age four and has been singing since. She sang with church, school and college choirs, as well as delivering singing telegrams for Eastern Onion. Judy sang with Bloomington's Generation Gap as well as Richfield's Singsation and also plays flute. Judy is in her third year with NOTE-able Singers and has found that it helps to fill her passion for music.

GAIL WOLLIN, Alto
Gail grew up in a musical family; her mother and aunt sang on the radio when they were in grade school. Gail was in choirs throughout grade school and high school, now sings in the church choir and in yearly Christmas cantatas and has sung with the praise team. Gail, in her second year, is an enthusiastic addition to NOTE-able Singers and is also on the tap dancing team.
